Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) It's always worth keeping an eye on the CRB website for updates in their services. NCVYS is a member of the CRB consultation group and attends regular meetings at the CRB. Again, any comments or concerns that you would like to pass on should be directed at Beth. For more information >> CRB website (external website) NCVYS has published a list of providers that offer CRB checking services, which are open to other voluntary and community organisations. Bullying guidance: Safe from bullying The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) published a series of guidance documents on preventing bullying aimed at different areas of work with young people including: cyberbullying, bullying in extended services in and around schools, in children’s homes, in play and leisure provision, on journeys around the community and in youth activities. The latter is specifically aimed at managers, staff and volunteers in youth activities, clubs and groups such as third sector providers, and voluntary management committees. This suite of guidance documents – entitled Safe from Bullying – sets out how different local services can work together to put a stop to bullying. It includes guidance for practitioners in each of these settings, along with a guide for local authorities and a set of training resources for staff. Although the DCSF is now the Department for Education, this information still reflects the current position unless indicated otherwise and is available here >> Safe from bullying guidance (external website) Safe NetworkThe new National Safeguarding Unit for the Third Sector promised in the Staying Safe Action Plan in 2008, is called Safe Network and provides a range of resources and support opportunities to organisations working with children in the voluntary and community sector.
